Health insurance coverage and source of coverage

One in four (25%) of transgender people experienced a problem with their insurance in the past year related to being transgender, such as being denied coverage for care related to gender transition.

Thirteen percent (13%) reported that they were denied coverage for services often considered gender-specific, including routine sexual and reproductive health screenings (such as Pap smears, prostate exams, and mammograms).

Seven percent (7%) reported that they were denied coverage for routine health care.
